These unique locking pliers are purpose built for plug/rosette welding. The substantial solid copper clamping surface sits behind the panels. The copper does not allow the weld bead to stick to it, so the you can drop a weld puddle directly on to it, forming the rear of the plug, and still unclamp the pliers with ease.
